Fiona McKenzie Johnston is a writer and journalist. Her first book, Roger Fry: Bloomsbury and the Invention of Modern Art, is being published by Triglyph Books in May 2026.  She is a Contributing Editor to House & Garden, and produces and writes the magazine's art pages, including the Artists in their Studios series, as well as other features.  She has also written for the Telegraph Magazine, Tatler, Sunday Times Style, Country & Town House, Vogue India, and Vogue Russia.   

 

Fiona has an MA in Art History from the University of St. Andrew's, where she specialised in the early 20th century Russian avant-garde.  She spent six years at Conde Nast International as Editorial Associate, working for Anna Harvey, Vice-President and Editorial Director of Conde Nast New Markets.  Fiona was involved in the launches of Conde Nast titles across the world, including Vogue China, Vogue and GQ India, Vogue Turkey and Tatler Russia as well as writing for the various international publications and assisting with fashion shoots.  

 

Fiona lives in East Sussex with her husband and two children, Sholto and Esmeralda.
